This isn’t going to be a very long post simply because this app I want to tell you about is so easy to use! I want to tell all you mommies about yet another way to save on groceries. This is a great app for you working moms who don’t have much spare time on your hands! It’s called Receipt Hog and it’s so easy to use and free to download! All you have to do is keep your receipts after your go grocery shopping and then submit then to Receipt Hog by taking a picture of them. That’s it! Typically they process receipts within twenty four hours and you get points according to how much you spent. Then, once you’ve racked up your coins, you can trade them in for either Amazon gift cards (up to $30) or straight up cash (again up to $30)!

Personally, I submit all my receipts and whatever the app takes, it takes. They’ve been adding new features on this app lately as well and updating it to give you more opportunities to earn coins. This is such a simple way to save a little and, I’m not going to lie, it takes a while for you to build up enough coins to trade them in for rewards, but it’s totally worth it and the best part about it is that it doesn’t cost you a dime!

Registering For Baby Items: An Untapped Resource!

I’ve noticed that a lot of my friends have recently found out that they’re expecting a little one! Congratulations! I’ve decided that I would do my next blog “series”  on preparing for a new baby, as I finished up my adoption series yesterday. I think all the new mommy-to-bes can really benefit from a series on being pregnant. I want to start with the registry…now, most everyone knows how to register for baby stuff, but just in case you’re like me and don’t really know how you go about it, here’s the break down: You go to your favorite stores and typically them have a kiosk you can use to put in your names, address, when you’re due and so on. You will then get a print out which you take to the customer service desk. They give you a scanner and off you go!

During my pregnancy, I remember how much fun it was to register for baby stuff that we would need when AJ graced the world with his presence. I also remembered how overwhelming it was at first and how the longer we stayed in xyz store, the worse my random charlie horses would get. We also had a considerable amount of family that lived elsewhere. Okay, they all lived in a different state…but the point is we decided to register on Amazon as well as the local stores in town. We were amazed at how many things (and cool things) they had on Amazon!

We didn’t even have to leave our living room to register for a TON of stuff we would need when the baby was born and some of them were items they didn’t even have at our local stores. Not only that, but registering online also allowed me to eat a huge plate of food while I browsed through baby gear- something that would make any pregnant woman happy as a clam. As I stuffed my face and equally stuffed our registry, I couldn’t keep from smiling around my food at the fact that I was shopping for my baby while sitting on my bottom. And the best part? Instead of trying to schedule going to the store and sifting through the pages of your registry, your family and friends can look for a gift online from the comfort of their own home and have it delivered to your door-step!

Seriously, how awesome is that?

“But wait a minute…I’m totally having a baby shower. What if they want to bring the gift to the baby shower and give it to me there?” Well then they can have it delivered to their house! Woot! Double win, ladies! You get to make your registry while sitting on your couch in your PJs and your family and friends can do the same while shopping around for you and your little one. Plus, think of how convenient it will be for those out of town family members!

We loved the Amazon registry, not only for the convenience but also because we were still getting goodies even after AJ was born. This is probably because your registry never goes away. I just checked to see if ours was still there (almost a year after we first made it) and it is there! It stays there until you delete it! Which means that if someone can’t make it to your shower and hasn’t gotten you a gift yet, they can simply go to Amazon’s website and look up your registry!

Amazon is a great untapped resource for registering for a new baby and it’s free! You already know how I feel about free.

Kiwi Crate Is My New Best Friend!

Disclosure: No compensation was given to me for this post. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Okay, so I am a complete sucker for things that have anything to do with being creative. I have so often said to my friends and family how I wish more kids would want to do things like play outside, arts and crafts and imagination games. Alas we live in a world of video games, tablets and other forms of instant gratification. Today I was introduced to Kiwi Crate, an amazing site that offers arts and crafts, family activities, holiday fun and more for sale. Most of the stuff is very reasonable in price and all of it stimulates your kids’ imagination.

Kiwi Crate even has a package where you can make your own superhero cape. How awesome is that?! This site is awesome, because it doesn’t just try to sell you things, it also has some DIY projects that some of their members have shared, ideas for stocking stuffers, even party favors! With Christmas just around the corner and AJ’s birthday following soon afterward, I believe I will be doing a lot of buying from this site and I encourage you to check it out too!

Kiwi Crate could be just the thing I’ve been looking for to do with my nieces and nephews (my son is still too little…but he’s next!)

Homemade Baby Food: Fruit!

Okay, so I’ve only tried this with bananas thus far, but I figured I would try one fruit a week and experiment with methods of turning them into baby food! Yay! Bananas are super easy, too! First, here’s what you need: 4 bananas, a blender and some water! That’s it! It literally took me about five minutes to make this and I’ve made enough for an entire week and a half (I think, it may be more). I’m still unsure as to how long it lasts in the fridge, but rest assured as soon as I know, I will update this post so that you’ll know too.

20141105_161311Now, I should probably add that our son is almost nine months old and we had already been given the go ahead by our pediatrician to start him on solids. So, always make sure that your baby is ready to eat solid foods by asking your pediatrician. Kay? Promise? Okay…let’s make some baby food!!

First, peel the bananas. I had originally purchased 6 but only used 4 of them and it came out perfect!

Break the bananas into pieces; how big or small doesn’t matter, it’s just to help out the blending process when you put them in the blender. Use about 4 ounces of water. You just want enough to loosen the consistency of the bananas.

Then blend!

Now, it’s going to be pretty bubbly. Don’t worry, it’ll thicken up and there won’t be as many bubbles after it’s spent a night in the refrigerator. That’s it! You’ve just made banana baby food!! Yay! To store it, you can use either a tupperware or you can even reuse the baby food jars!

What is Ibotta?

Ever wonder what it would be like to go grocery shopping and earn money back on what you buy? What if I told you that there are free apps just like this that currently exist? I want to tell you guys about Ibotta, an incredible app that gives you rebates on groceries and more! After doing for just a couple of weeks, I made $29! Now, I get it; $29 isn’t very much in the grand scheme of things, but this money can go into my Pay Pal account and pay for a box of diapers! For a stay-at-home mom with no income any little bit to put towards diapers, wipes, diaper rash and all the awesome things that all babies need is a huge help.

Screenshot_2014-11-01-21-18-06All you have to do is open your Ibotta app next time you go shopping to see if there’s anything that you already planned to get! They even have rebates for clothes, sport gear, dining out, baby items and more! It’s pretty sweet and the best part is that there are tons of stores on the app, so wherever you go shopping, it’s very likely to be on Ibotta. Even everyday items that mostly everyone buys, such as milk, eggs and bread are on Ibotta. So why not get paid for things your going to buy anyway?

How can I make the most money on Ibotta?

So, I think we can all agree that making the most amount of money is always best. There are a couple of ways to do this on Ibotta besides buying items listed on the app. The first one I want to tell you about is bonuses. Bonuses are a great way to make a little extra on top of what you make through purchases.unnamed There are bonuses available for individual items as well as monthly bonuses and task bonuses. Some bonuses are worth more than others, but it’s very easy to rack up your cash by completing bonuses. b22c78c2-14bc-4a66-b2df-5ad60730df94_zps72960212

Another way to complete bonuses faster is to have a lot of people on your team. If you connect your Facebook or Google+ account to your Ibotta account and watch your team build! Any of your friends on these networks that use Ibotta will automatically be added to your team. It’s that simple! For your monthly bonuses, the more money people on your team makes, the more money you can make!

If you want to add more people on your team, head on over to the Ibotta Facebook page and create a post where you ask people to add you to their friends list! Another great way to build your team is to give your friends your reference code, which everyone gets when they sign up for Ibotta. My reference code is at the top of this post and I would very much appreciate it if you used it when you sign up for this incredible, free app. If you do, I’ll get a $5 bonus! So help a fellow mommy out!

Wouldn’t you love to earn money for things you’re already buying? Speaking as a stay-at-home mom, any extra cash is helpful. Even if it’s only a little bit at a time, it starts to add up quick and before you know it, you’ll be putting some of the money you already spend right back into your bank account. Even if you use coupons when you shop, you’ll still get the full value of each item that’s on the Ibotta app! That means you save even more money, which is always a good thing, right?

What are you waiting for mommies? Get onto your smartphone now and download this free app! Use my reference code! I promise that you won’t be sorry you did. And stay tuned for more ways to make money from home and ways to earn gift cards for free stuff!!
