I haven’t given an update on my weight-loss journey in a while, mainly because it wasn’t really helping me to document my everyday meals. I decided that eating healthier and attending the gym regularly was enough for me. It’s working, guys! I have gone down from 182.4 lbs to a solid 174 lbs! I’m even starting to see a difference in how my clothes fit, which is really the most important thing to me. My goal is to be able to fit into my size 5 jeans again and I know it’s going to take some time, but with the results I’m already seeing in just two weeks I know I’ll stay motivated to continue my journey.
I’ve decided that I will post an updated picture at the end of the month, as promised when I started this adventure. I can’t say for sure until I look at the “before” and “after” images side by side, but I think you’ll see a noticeable difference. My Dr. Pepper intake is still at one per day (some days, I admit I have two) and water the rest of the time. I’ve also started drinking coffee again and since I take my cup-of-joe black (no cream, no sugar) I don’t have to worry about taking in any extra calories!
My gym routine consists of two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) with Rocky, my personal trainer, for thirty minutes each of those days. She has me doing a lot of basic exercises such as push-ups, squats, lunges and core stability exercises that she learned from Linsday Brin. If I’m able to find the specific workouts online, I will certainly post a link to them with my next update as they are excellent and very effective. Doing these simple exercises (which I can also do at home easily) has even given me more energy in general.
Since Adam and I plan to wait at least a couple of years before we have baby number 2, I want to take advantage of that time and get into the best shape of my life beforehand and continue to stay active throughout my second pregnancy. I plan to attempt a VBAC and being in shape will only up my chances in being successful. So not only do I have my rockin’ body to work towards, but also a healthy and active future pregnancy!
I look forward to continuing updating on my progress and watching my body go back to it’s pre-pregnancy state (well…at least as much as any woman who’s had a baby’s body can at least). If you’re pursuing your own journey to health, I would love to hear about your progress! Feel free to comment on this post or send me a private message at email@example.com. Let’s be healthy mommas together!
Dinner: Vermicelli pasta with roasted pepper and garlic sauce and sliced Italian sausages
Drink: Dr. Pepper
Dessert: 2 pirouettes
I went to the gym this morning at around 9 o’clock and spent 5 minutes on the elliptical, then I did three reps of 20 count chest presses, three reps of 25 count leg lifts, two reps of 20 count curls and 10 minutes on the stationary bike. I know it doesn’t sound like much, and it isn’t, but I haven’t worked out at the gym in a long, long time…probably when I was 19 was the last time I went. So, I couldn’t go “balls to the walls” today, but my goal is to increase my workouts every week I go.
I hope to be able to go again this week, maybe on a day that Adam doesn’t go into work until the afternoon. Because going once a week isn’t going to do much. I haven’t heard from my personal trainer yet, but I’m really looking forward to having someone to guide me towards the best workouts for me to reach my goal.
After the gym, I went and paid our water bill (very important seeing as how I left the gym sweaty and smelling gross) and then went grocery shopping where I got a lot more healthy options for us. Tomorrow will be a better food day for me as I had to skip breakfast this morning due to not having anything, really, to eat in the house.
I won’t be working out tomorrow as I expect to be hurting a little from my workout this morning. And I have some homework for my class that I need to catch up on. And housework…I hope to reorganize our linen closet. We’ll see how that goes.
Breakfast: one chocolate frosted doughnut, one banana, grapes and pineapple
Drink: Chocolate milk
Lunch: One chocolate frosted doughnut
Dinner: Grilled chicken with rice-a-roni and corn
Drink: Iced Tea and a beer
Football day today, so no exercise again. But I have plans to go tomorrow morning before I go and pay our water pill and do our grocery shopping. The Lions lost today (boo) to the Bills no less. I think I’m more angry about it because Jim Schwartz is now the head coach for the Bills.
This coming Friday is our town’s Homecoming Parade and I’m very excited to see the town during this time. Apparently everyone goes to the Parade so, I will be taking pictures and then I’ll write about it. I’ve decided that I truly love small towns. I know I’ve only been here for four months, but it feels quaint and warm. And peaceful. People trust each other here, they care for their neighbors…and that’s something that’s extremely hard to find. Especially in the bigger cities.
Breakfast: One beef taco (I know that not much of a breakfast, but we haven’t gone grocery shopping yet)
Lunch: 1 can of tuna, mayo and lettuce in a pita
Dinner: 2 Steak Quesoritos
Drink: Dr. Pepper
Sorry for not posting this last night, but I had a pretty busy day. Lots going on with me getting our grocery list and coupons together for the month. I’m planning on this new way of eating to be easier once I’m able to get to the market tomorrow and stock up my fridge. No exercise for me yesterday and still plan on going to the gym tomorrow for about an hour or so.
Mid Afternoon snack: Veggie soup and Salad (Lettuce only) with Lemon Juice (0 pts)
Dinner: Tombstone Pizza (7 pts)
Drink: Dr. Pepper
I went to my orientation today at the community center to learn how to use all the equipment. I couldn’t stay for a workout like I thought I would last night because my sister-in-law needed a babysitter, so I went home right after the orientation. I made arrangements to book a session with one of the personal trainers and should hear back about that soon. I’m planning to go workout on Monday since Adam is off and can watch the baby.
We’re going on Sunday to my sister-in-laws house to watch football, so I’ll get a chance to weigh myself (the scale I’ve been using is at her house). I’m not too optimistic, but I expect to see at least two pounds gone. And hopefully, once I get in a couple of sessions with the personal trainer I’ll have more of an idea with exercises will help me out the best.
